Doctrine
Once we'd left ruins in our wake, the children of the Paradise Wars watched as the great empire Kalayangan fell from the sky, punished for what it had wraught upon the world. Now, as the wheel continues to turn, we too are being punished. We are surrounded from all sides - the barbaric pagans, the idle orthodoxy, and the gleeful heretics. Even by sea, the nearest of the Eastern islands have been commandeered by nefarious sorcerers from the old empire.
Perhaps you wonder what fate will befall us... Our outlook is grim, after all. Yet, the turning of the wheel is inevitable. Soon, we'll be turned on our heads, but for now we continue to rise - briefly, at the apex of the wheel, we shall experience peace among our warring people. The faith healer, Aloysius Caturnon, was born to carry a message, imbued in him by the ferocious suneater, the beast growning ever resetless from the great hubris of man. Before the new age inevitably dawns upon the world, he guides his disciples as they prepare to enter Heaven and brings the wicked to heel.
Although we may not persist to see the next cycle, in our absence, the great stone Obelisks will rise from the wastelands of Valonvyr again. Again and again, time repeats itself. We must put aside our misgivings and facilitate the spinning of the wheel; then, surely we will be rewarded in our next lives. To sacrifice yourself to Heaven, to surrender you body, is the only way to ensure the purity of your soul.

Normally, I'm not one to believe in this type of bullshit, but he approached me first. Told me I was going to have a heart attack soon, and, what do you know... Perfect timing. God works in mysterious ways, huh? Dunno if I would've believe it myself if his son hadn't been filming. Well, I'm grateful for the generosity, since badland scavenging doesn't come with health insurance. Guess there are some decent people left in this miserable shithole after all.
